| THE HOTEL BUILDING: |
The Hotel building is designed as per energy efficient building recommendations to use maximum solar energy for space heating and for hot water.
The building has two independent space heating circuits one for the solar heating connected to radiators in each room and another circuit with our backup unit which will automatically switch on when the room temperature drops down from prefixed comfortable temperature level. Special
stress has been given on the insulation of the building. |
| |
| LIGHTING: |
Being the first Energy efficient Hotel in Ladakh the building has given special stress on the lighting system. The Hotel has two independent lighting
circuits on works on 12 volts DC current and another 220 AC current in each room. The 12 volt DC current is Solar powered with power bank
connected to LED bulbs in the rooms and public areas. Guests have choice of using GREEN or normal switches in all rooms and public areas.
The exterior of the Hotel building/ Gardens, is entirely lit by using LED bulbs powered by SOLAR ENERGY.
Hot water in the bathrooms are mainly generated through Solar energy, with conventional backup.
The building is designed to gain maximum amount heat through the sun; using Tromb Wall technology to gain maximum heat. |
| |
| LAUNDRY |
| In our strive to reduce waste we have reusable cloth laundry bags instead of the standard paper or plastic bags as in other hotels, in which the
guests could send the clothes for laundering. |
| |
| STATIONERY |
| With forests dwindling and the air we breathe under threat, every contribution helps. This is why you’ll find all paper products at PANORAMA
contain at least 25% recycled content. |
| |
| WATER FLASK & GLASSES |
The water flask in the guestrooms are left empty which are filled after asking the guest for his preference of hot, cold or room temperature water
as water already filled and kept in the flask leads to guest perception of the water being stale, which they promptly ask to be replaced.
The glasses too are turned upside down and kept in the tray, thereby doing away with having to wrap each glass in a plastic bag and consequently
Generating more waste for the hotel. |
| |
| CLOTH MATS |
| To reduce the waste generated by our hotel we use cloth mats instead of paper ones.
Paper napkins are not used. |
| ` |
| NO SINGLE SERVING ITEMS USED. |
| To add to the above, use of single serving items are done away with at PANORAMA. Use of condiments like sugar sachets is replaced by using
sugar cubes, jams, sauces, ketchup are served in preserved pots . Reduce, re-use and recycle |
